Chemical Evolution in the High School Classroom
Teaching young people about our chemistry and inspiring them to pursue science is one of the cornerstones of our program. To this end, the Center for Chemical Evolution has created and participated in a number of outreach activities for high school students, including:
- The development of a high school chemistry laboratory lesson, Adenine Synthesis in a Model Prebiotic Reaction: Connecting Origin of Life Chemistry with Biology (J. Chem. Ed., pdf and Word formats available)
- The production of an International Year of Chemistry celebration for DeKalb County high school students
- Participation in Georgia Intern Fellowships for Teachers
If you are a teacher interested in working in our labs, please apply
through the GIFT program. If you would like to have a scientist visit your classroom, contact us directly.
