Chemical Evolution in the Community
The scientists in the Center for Chemical Evolution make regular efforts to broaden the impact of their research through community involvement. Some of our outreach activities include Science Cafes and Evolution Revoltion.
The Science Café movement has taken hold in the State of Georgia as a means to bring science discussions and education to the general public. The Center for Chemical Evolution has partnered with the Atlanta Botanical Garden's Cocktails in the Garden and the Atlanta Science Tavern at Manuel's Tavern to bring active researchers to a public space for inclusive conversations about timely scientific topics. Join us at the Gardens (May - October, third Thursday of the month) or at Manual's Tavern (year round, fourth Saturday of the month) for an evening with good food, great company and fascinating discussions.
What is a Science Café?
Science café are events in casual meeting places like pubs or coffee shops that bring together the general public with a scientist to talk about current science topics. Anyone can go to a science cafe and everyone is welcome!

The Center for Chemical Evolution & the Science Café Movement
Since the establishment of our Center, our members scientists have been actively involved in giving talks and leading discussions at science cafes. Begining with "The Origin of Life, It's Just Chemistry," hosted by the Georgia ACS, the Center for Chemical Evolution has since become partners with the Atlanta Science Tavern and Science Cafes at the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
